Integrated Maths, English and Core Academic Skills

At CPD Learning, we work with each student to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP). You will be allocated a tutor who will review a range of assignments you have submitted and work with you to identify any areas where you may benefit from extending further your knowledge of core academic skills. These include maths and English, but also IT/digital skills and important areas of general academic knowledge and understanding such as writing in an academic style or referencing sources.

In all of these areas, we can offer free online tutorials and practice assessments so that you can fill any skills gaps you may have and develop greater confidence in your ability to put these skills into practice. It’s a great benefit to studying with us, as these skills, once developed, will be useful throughout your time in higher education and in your future career.

There are times when students have missed out on obtaining qualifications in maths and English at Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE). For example, they may be seeking to pursue a degree apprenticeship which requires a minimum of Level 2 in maths or English and have come onto the programme on the basis of their work experience rather than previous qualifications. By integrating maths, English and core academic skills into our programmes, students without Level 2 qualifications in maths and English will be supported to obtain them.

Based on the information you provide when you first apply to study with us, we will advise you of the requirements for successfully completing your intended programme of study, to clarify exactly what the specific programme requirements are.
